Original White Sauce Wings
In honor of National Wing Day (talk about a day we're on board to celebrate), we are sharing a simple, no-fail wing recipe with you inspired by a local BBQ legacy. Around here white sauce is a way of life. We can thank Big Bob Gibson Barbecue for creating the original white sauce almost 100 years ago - as far as we are concerned the ONLY white sauce there is! You don't have to be a local to get your hands on the original - many grocery stores now sell the sauce, or you can order it directly from Bob Gibson online. It's the backbone of our quick and easy wing recipe that's sure to please everyone from your kids to the guys watching the game.
White Sauce Wings
Ingredients:
Chicken wings, trimmed
Rub of choice (we used Honey Hog BBQ Rub by Meat Church)
Big Bob Gibson Original White Sauce
Directions:
1. Set grill up for direct cooking
2. While grill heats, dust wings with Honey Hog BBQ Rub or your favorite rub on both sides
3. Get temp to 350 degrees (When you put the wings on, the temp might drop down to around 300 and that's fine. You just don't want grill to get too hot so that it is flaming up on you.)
4. Put wings on and turn every 10 minutes
5. After about 2 or 3 turns place wings in a bowl and pour Original White Sauce over wings. Make sure all sides of the wings are coated in white sauce.
6. Place wings back on the grill for about 2 minutes a side, letting the wings crisp up and get a slight char
7. Remove and enjoy!
We are always up for new ideas when it comes to cooking wings. Share your favorite wing recipe with us in the comments! Cheers to National Chicken Wing Day!
